Multi-Session Workshops
Women’s Studies Poetry Workshop: Millennial Becomings with Diane Álvarez-Hughes
- July 9 - 30 (Thursdays) @ 7 - 8:30 p.m. (EST)
- Cost: $90-$130 (sliding scale; includes feedback on two of your poems) / $30-$50 (sliding scale; materials only version)
- Great for: suckers for nostalgia, anyone who likes exploring girlhood and womanhood, anyone open to giving/receiving feedback, those who want a little more time to write from prompts before sharing with others
- NOTE: You need access to Facebook for this workshop.
Poetic Archaeology: Digging for New Language with Tina Barry via Writers.com
- July 15 - August 5 (asynchronous with weekly assignment deadlines)
- Cost: $345
- Great for: writers in a rut, especially if you find yourself writing about the same things and want to mix it up by mining for new source material
- NOTE: I would absolutely take this workshop if I could afford it right now. It sounds so cool!
Poets Camp with Ariana Brown
- July 17-31 (daily) @ various times (each live workshop is 2 hours; see link for exact times)
- Cost: $195 (access to live workshops) / $97 (prompts and readings only)
- Great for: beginner to advanced writers, writers seeking community, “writers interested in reading & uplifting the experiences of poets of color” - Ariana
- NOTE: Ariana usually offers this course annually (in case you can’t make it this year).
Cryptids & Creatures: Mythology and the Monstrous in Modern Poetry with Maya Salameh via Brooklyn Poets
- July 26 and August 2 @ 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. (EST)
- Cost: $185 or $205 (sliding scale)
- Great for: Bigfoot believers, Mothman memorialists, mythology mavens. . . . Or anyone who wants to explore the intersection of myth and memory through monstrous creatures
- NOTE: Another one I wish I could take! Limited to 6-12 students.
Single-Session Workshops
Mixtape: A Generative Poetry Workshop with Ari B. Cofer
- July 5 @ 11 a.m. (PST)
- Cost: $10-$50 (sliding scale; $50 suggested to help Ari attend the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference)
- Great for: music lovers, lyric enthusiasts, anyone who can wear out a song and still can’t stop listening to it
Remembering Andrea Gibson with Yoda Olinyk
- July 7 @ 7 p.m. (EST)
- Cost: $3-$25 (sliding scale; all proceeds from $25 level will be donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance)
- Great for: lovers of poetry, lovers of Andrea Gibson, those still grieving, those wanting to celebrate their life and work, anyone looking for a safe space to write with community
Crafting Titles for Stories and Poems with Lorette C. Luzajic via Women on Writing
- August 6 @ 3 - 5 p.m. (EST)
- Cost: $40
- Great for: writers who too often rely on “Untitled” or who want to generate more engaging titles
